Greetings everybody at the Stray Diaries Shelter!
This is Ben, your favorite St. Bernard and former Clock Tower Sentinel, reporting from my forever home. The humans call this a “postcard,” and it sure beats barking at pigeons all day!
Loving The Sound of Freedom
Time has a funny way of twisting and twirling when you’re wrapped in joy. The phrase “time flies when you’re having fun” feels like an understatement. It’s more like it’s been chiming away like a clock tower at New Year’s since I set my paws into this new life. It’s as though I’ve traded the solemn tolling of the city clock tower for the merry jingles of a home that understands and appreciates the sentinel that still resides within me.
The Tiny Human and The Tick Tock
Among my newfound family, there’s this little one, not much taller than a fire hydrant, who has an infectious zest for life and a fascination with my timekeeping barks. Every time the clock chimes, it’s like an unseen conductor lifts his baton, my cue to bark, and the small human’s cue to dissolve into peals of laughter. His eyes twinkle like the stars, and we share this enchanting moment, dancing to the symphony of chimes and barks.
A Family That Loves Chimes
This family is unlike any other. They have a profound respect for the rhythm of time, much like I do. They don’t just hear the clock chimes, they feel them. Each chime resonates through the home, prompting a pause, a moment of shared unity. These moments of appreciation for time, and my corresponding bark, have quickly become a cherished tradition, a simple pleasure that I’m grateful to be part of.
Biscuits and Belly Rubs
In this whirlwind of freedom and tick-tocks, not everything runs like clockwork. My humans have their own rhythms, unlike the strict schedule of a clock tower. Yet, they’ve mastered the art of the unexpected – impromptu belly rubs and clandestine treats that magically appear just when I least expect them. Even without the predictable tick-tock, these sweet surprises add a richness to life that I’ve come to love and anticipate.
The Magic of Home
There’s something incredibly special about the sound of a clock chiming in a home pulsating with love. The echo of the chimes and my bark seem to bounce off the walls, resonating with laughter, joy, and the profound warmth of family. Each bark of mine is no longer just a mark of time but a booming thank you to everyone who has made this possible. Thank you for this wonderful home, and for letting me be me – Old Ben, the Family Timekeeper.
So, my dear friends, until the next chime graces our ears or the next unexpected treat finds its way into my bowl, remember that there is a stray who found his perfect rhythm in a world filled with chimes, barks, and belly rubs.
Your friend,
Old Ben
